Blind ads

Recently someone posted a blind ad on this site for a business development manager.

I suggest that folks take care in considering their response to such advertisements.

Blind ads may not be real and are often misleading.

The request is to respond to an e-mail address, no company or person’s name.

“A very well established leader in the car wash industry”

Who might this be? Sonny’s Carwash Factory or a little carwash chain located in Frostbite, USA or some obscure bathtub blender looking to hawk soap.

“The ideal candidate should have three to five years’ experience in the car wash industry and be able to work in a faced pace environment with a professional and positive attitude.”

Experience in what? Management, sales, marketing or wax-on/wax-off.

“Please submit your resume to and salary requirements to…”

Why would anyone in their right mind take the risk of sending personal information and salary requirements to an unknown entity?

Companies often use blind ads to conduct pay scale and labor pool research, hide the fact a company is seeking a replacement and avoid expense of headhunters.

If something smells like a Troll, it most often is a Troll.

Take care.

I noticed too the email is a free "throwaway" type, something no reputable business would use as part of a professional recruitment.
