Not sure if everyone has seen the video from carwashTV.com about a really interesting car wash in the Caribbean:

I would love to get your thoughts on the idea.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful wash in a beautiful land.

I like the thought process. But if you reclaim your water what is the advantage ?

reply by Alex-BestWash 7 months ago

Advantage is to keep clean water usage to minimal. Of course, if you use clean water to mix all your chemicals.

But I am agree - nice wash in nice place. But also to notice - that concept will have rights to live only if some cars will come to you wash from rent-a-car company's (or from other place with minimal dirt on it).
Here, in Russia, that won't work. We have here dirty cars, extremely dirty cars and unbelivable extremely dirty cars. You could wash you car on Spring or Autumn every day and you'll have to place always on MAXIMUM (and stronger), like that movie showing...)

I hear what you're saying Alex, but as long as there is a variation in the dirtiness of cars, the concept will work. Its value also depends on how expensive water and electric is. In places where the price is high, the ROI on this is a no-brainer.

I'm not saying the concept is fully evolved yet, but I think as we see water and electric prices go up, the ability to reduce waste will be essential.

Thanks for sharing it Kyle...great video production...good discussion. I've always thought we waste a lot of chemicals with our style of one size fits all washing. But I can see there's also water and electric waste also.

Jimmy, when we built our last express wash we did something very similar. We have 4 wash packages that are labeled light clean, meduium clean, heavy clean and extremme clean. The customer picks the wash depending on the condition of their vehicle. Depending on the selection we turn on or off all the funtions, from soap, number and type of brushes, rinshes and even the number of dryers. What Jon has done is take it to a whole new level. It has also made it much easier to upsell a customer, if their vehicle is beyond a light clean we recommend a better clean based on the condtion of the vehicle. We have also colour coded the equipment to match the colour on the menu. ie, a blue clean (light clean) only turns on the blue equipment.
