Car wash accident videos
I am having a safety meeting with our employees this Sunday.
I'd like to show some video of car wash accidents, mainly ones that involve employees so we can stress the importance of safety. The ones I remember seeing with people getting wrapped in in hoses etc I can no longer find...
If you don't have videos, any articles would be helpful...
Thanks

We had a safety meeting a few weeks ago. The woman from Paychecks ran the safety meeting and went over OSHA, chemicals, ladders, etc. They actually have a ladder checklist to make sure your ladder is in good working condition. Found out that we are do for some new ones.
For the hoses getting caught in the wraps, we installed some stainless marine hooks along the equipment wall side of our tunnel at about 6-1/2" high. We have these about every 6' feet or so along the tunnel wall and above the doors into the tunnel. This has eliminated trip hazards and solved any issues where the hose could get caught in a wrap or other equipment.
Leave it up to the two car wash engineers in Jax to come up with a solution to our problems....great idea...hooks on the wall!
Think about this solution. Maybe we should all add a 10ft section of water hose to the business end of our rinse hoses that is attached by a push lock fitting. Something that would break away if the hose is grabbed by a brush.
Kinda like a breakaway fitting on a gasoline dispenser.
A hose barb without pipe clamp might work. I figure 10ft or 15ft from the employee would be enough length. You need something strong enough not to come apart while using (and dragging it) but come apart under stress.
What do y'all think?
Great idea on the hooks Andrew! I think we would definitely look into doing that...
And Jim's idea is great also...a breakaway fitting like we have on our gas pumps is a great as well!
