Ran Rain go Away
Since last sunday we have had a subtropical storm over us, and we have so far had over 10 inches of rain. Yesterday was our best day, we washed 45 cars (only 1/4" of rain)! today is not as good. It is still raining. Tomorrow we only have a 30% chance!!! and Sunday again 30%, whoopi, maybe the sun will even come out.

Yeah but how many months have you been in drought? We've had 8 gourgeous days here in Northeast Ohio and have washed nearly 3,000 cars. Into every lidfe a little (or a lot) of rain must fall. I hope it straightens out for you soon. Menawhile all you can do is batten down the hatches, ride it out try not to get discouraged and tackle that list of things you've been putting off. Good luck!
Be thankful that you are not in Colorado. The last 9 out of 11 weekends have been shot to ----, thanks to lousy weather or poor forecasts, not to mention that last 4 days have been raining.
For the last part of April and first of May we had 25 consecutive days with a chance of rain. Not to mention 10 weekends in a row that it actually rained. We washed 4 times as many cars last week than we did in the first 15 days of the month. MKT- I know what you mean about lousy forcast, here we have lousy forcastERS. Our weather guys will have a board behind them that shows the 5 day forcast with 20-30% chance of rain and it will have a black cloud with lightening coming out of it. I actually wrote an email and "brought it to their attention" that when they over sensationalize the rain that it hurts everyones business from car dealers, retail, restaurants and car washes (the people who pay their salaries). And it actually worked, they wrote me back apologizing and said they would make an effort to not focus on the negative and focus more on the 70-80% chance of sunshine.
Post a copy of the letter so that we can all send it to our local forecasters in our respective towns/cities.
JJ, as a fellow Florida carwash operator, I surely feel your pain! Great timing, the rain is now keeping the "love bugs" down. I'm thinking of doing a Summer promotion..."BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE". Basically a FREE Re-Wash (exterior only) good until September 30, 2009.
Anyone in the SE run such a promotion during rain and hurricane season?
May will be one for the record books here( Southeast), and not in a good way.............
It's been raining here in the NE since mid May. On top of that it's cold. Average temp is about 70. All the gains made in the first quarter have been given back. What's happening in the rest of the country. Is anybody dry.

Houston, Texas it rained a little today, first rain in at least 3 weeks no REAL rain in last 6 weeks. Our largest oil customer (see profile pic) has been averaging 25-30 plus more car a day! in the last month.
Hasn't stopped raining In NH for 2 months now! You can only wash the walls so many times!
Southern California has has horrible June gloom traveling deep inland and lasting most of the day. Near the coast the marine layer has been so thick it might as well be raining some days. Last weekend was the first sunny weekend. I just hope its not too late to recover.
I'm sitting here at my window in Chelmsford, MA watching it pour. This may be the 22nd straight day of some rain in the area. I'm running out of depression meds.

I wonder what's going on? Bad weather across the entire US for car washes.
It must be global cooling. In CO we finally had several straight good weather
days 2 weekends ago, but sadly my wash didn't even take advantage of it.
I'm thinking now the economy is at fault in my area because my parents'
washes (located in a more middle-class city) were banking that weekend.
Well so far lucky chuck July is more of June, no drought yet. Stuart I think there is an endless supply of Scotch at the store, take two if one is not helping anymore. Tim-well CO is just not fun to own a wash this year, as for me I am going fishing-enjoy the summer.
It's raining again and will be for the next three days. Although we did take a break for the 4th of July weekend, which was beautiful, except that everybody left town.
