We are having unreliable internet access provided by Comcast. What internet provider gives the most reliable internet access? or is this a moot question?

Comcast is notoriously bad. SBC Yahoo, which may be regional, has been excellent for everyone I know. Everyone in my family has @sbcglobal.net at the end of their e-mail address. We use it at the wash and it's pretty much 100%. I use Roadrunner at home, which is also near 100% reliable.

I use comcast at home and love it! I don't have access to it at the wash and use ATT DSL or SBC whatever they call themselves this month... never had any problems with ATT unless there are phone line problems.. maybe twice in the past 2 years... Have you called comcast and had them come out and check everything out ? I had a problem once and they came out and did something to my wall jack and it fixed it... been fine since

We waited for a tech to come out, and had to leave after 4 hours. When the tech finally came, he checked the cable, checked to see if we had internet, and left. It was another 24 hours before another tech could be scheduled out. We could process credit cards on our backup connection, but lost the ability to remotely check on the wash.
I do not think SBC is here in Jacksonville, which is DSL, but DSL maybe the way to go.

How old is the router? Is the router connected via usb to a computer? If the tech came out and said everything is okay to the building you could just replace everything to the router.

A nice cable guy finally made it, he changed out the comcast modem, 15 minutes of programing, said lightening fried the network lines, and we are back on line!!! Now just to get more liable service techs. Maybe have a spare modem would do the trick
