Whose Talking
More Lighting
We have 2 bay garage for detail shop. It has flourecent lights on ceiling. I alwasy wondered if we should have more lighting.
I am assuming that the brighter shop the better. Is that correct?
If so, how can I add more light? Just call electrician and add some powerful flood lights?
Thanks.

Tom, fluorescent lighting is the way to go; however, you should make sure the lights are the new T-5 or T-8 rapid start lights. They are more energy efficient than the old oil filled ballast lights. You should also have fluorescent lights on the walls. Our shop is an oversized 2 bay garage that can fit 4 cars total. 2 in the 'front' and 2 in the 'back' of the garage. We have the lights on the wall parallel with the floor. The wall lights are 2 bulb 8 ft fluorescent. The ceiling lights are 6 bulbs fluorescent like you would see in Sam's Club or even a large grocery store. The new T-5 or T-8 lights will give you more light, yet save you $ on your elec bill in the long run.
Good Luck
