~~Is Detailing Recession Proof?

What have other detail centers experienced for sales trends this year compared to last year?

With all the 'doom and gloom' forecast for our economy, has your detail biz dropped at all?

My net is up a decent amount over last year, even with higher costs of chems, electric, gas, etc.

Those who are operating a good business are reporting business as usual and some show increases.

Those who are detailers and not business people are the ones complaining about business drop offs. You have to be prepared with a plan to deal with economic downturns.

There is a good article on this point on the DETAIL PLUS forum on www.mobileworks.com

Well, I have to admit that it took me several years in business to finally wake up to the fact that I was not enough of a businessperson and too much of a detailer as you put it.

Since realizing my shortcomings, I have worked to correct them. I now focus on pricing as well as quality. I attempt to staff as to satisfy peak demand. I look very carefully at costs and attempt to maximize efficiency as much as possible. These efforts have paid off.
