Cleaning 75 yr old Laidlaw Broadcloth
We have a client with some very special vintage cars He is wanting the upholstery cleaned - it is made from Laidlaw Broadcloth which I believe to be a tight / short napped wool.
Is there anyone out there with experience in the specific material - I am pretty confident that it will clean up nicely with our upholstery cleaner using warm softened water followed by immediate extraction. The backing and cloth is in great shape. Obviously we would test a hidden section first.
Thanks

You might be better served to use a vapor steamer on the material. Too much moisture in that older style fabric can damage it.

heat + wool = shrink
Back in the day I used to manufacture a complete line of chemistry for carpet cleaners/dry cleaners. Wool was always a pia. Best thing for wool is a non-alkaline, non-solids detergent dispensed in cold-lukewarm water (Woolite for example). Ask your wife how to clean a wool sweater. Same thing.
Just my 2 cents.
