Whose Talking
BEST IBA PRODUCT
I have a new XP by oasis. My distributer uses his presoak [used at most all other iba in town] - dont know the brand.
Problem is- dark colored vehicles have a "haze" look on them that is easily removed when lightly touched or wiped.
Is this a product problem that can be cured by switching presoak- wax etc??

Any touchfree will leave a slight haze on dark colored cars w/any presoak or machine. we run filmbuster in our typhoon from autowash mait. out of Malden,MA....works great!
What you're seeing is likely road film. Cars that have not been washed for several weeks or month and drive through rain, etc. will develop this film. You're going to develop a long term relationship with road film. You have now discovered it's existence, you will now have to figure out how to best remove it. I have never seen a touch free clean 100% of the cars on the road and the chemical mfg that can figure out how to do that safely and affordably will make a mint. My best results come through extreme alkalinity from boosted presoaks. But soils are different in areas, so what may work well for a guy in a neighboring state may not work for you.
Most people that enjoy riding in a clean car wash often enough that you can clean theirs just fine. Fortunately that is the bulk of my business, people that wash weekly. It's the customer that wash less frequently that are the problem. In my area if they wash less frequently than once a month it's a challenge to get a really clean car. It may look clean to the eye but will fail a white glove test. You really have to tweak chemicals and find the best combo for your area. I would let your distributor gets first crack at tweaking the setup. But if he can not clean 90% of your customer's cars to their satisfaction you will have to at least try other brands of products he does not carry (and he will not be happy). My best generic recommendation for anyone new to the business would probably try a Blendco distributor. They seem to have a lot of happy customers. But they don't hold any secret formula, they just have an easy way to tweak alkalinity in their setup.
Filming was a constant problem at our touchless carwash. I now request monthly titrations from our chemical provider. Although they did give us a kit to do it ourselves, they are the experts and can analyze and adjust the chemicals accordingly. Their technical know-how is really needed, because of the change of seasons and harsh road conditions (salt, mud, sap, etc.) in NH.
Linda is correct that there are many factors that can cause a light film to be left on the vehicle. Just switching a product or two may be missing the culprit entirely. The problem could be as simple as water quality. The problem could also be complex such as organic or environmental reactions based on the washes location. For an example some foaming agents used in presoaks have been know to react with soils heavy in certain trace metals. A good distributor with qualified techs can troubleshoot the problem in a few hours
