I had already tried that - the first video is a standard 5000, the second video has been replaced with video of a Ryko.

Thank you guys for the videos, but I need more help regarding buying a pre-owned wash, I have to decide between a (2004) D&S super 5000 and a (2003) Water Wizard 6500.

I don’t have any experience in this business maybe you can advice me on these two systems which will be the best choice for me to buy.

Thanks,
Joe

What is your situation? Is it for a C Store? Whichever one you can get the best service for is the one I would go with. I think the better wash is the Water Wizard however they might require a bit more maintence because of moving parts, more hoses, nozzels ect. I see alot more Water Wizards than D&S, but I THINK that is an accurate assumption.

Why are those your only choices? on www.CarwashConsignment.com they have loads of vectors, typhoons and lasers for sale cheap, maybe not being in the biz something with a little bit more simplicity would be better. I have seen water wizards in action, nice machines but the one in my town takes almost 7 minutes for a top wash on my Denali pickup. Ebay has a few automatics going rite now too. Good Luck

Need some help again from you guys, I took a look at the CarwashConsignment.com and I found an old Vector (2002) and some old Lasers and no Typhoons. I have seen a video of the Vector in action and it seems to do a great job, but here comes the question can you tell me what is the difference between a 2003, 2005 and a 2007 Vector.

Your info will be highly appreciate

I would assume the logistics in the speed, the setup appears to be the same as from 02 to the current. In my town I have an older vector on one side of the road and a brand new on the other, extremly odd. And I peridically venture through them and honestly I believe the older unit is just about the same speed as the new one, maybe a few seconds quicker. But it's all in the programming of the unit, I have see typhoons up around in the 5 minute range with poor programming. Ebay has a D&S 5000 mang. 04 and a refurbished laser 4000 for $8grand. Believe it or not craigslist has had a few for sale. two g5's went up forsale for 40grand and were gone in a few days. It's worth searching some local abutting states. Just be perpeared to do some work on the unit if it's used. I can probally guess a gas station unit has been probally be neglected in maitnenece. The Mobil stations around me with old laser are falling apart, just due to poor maitnenece. Maybe bring a tech with you, that does installs and repair on the specific unit. They can maybe find something that you may not see, a little extra cash upfront but maybe a lot down the road in downtimes and repair. Let me know if you need any assistance, any time manchesterautowash@yahoo.com

Thats good advice. From what our service guys tell me the Vectors are made pretty well, if something is wrong with them they will keep on running. (you will get a shit wash, but you wont be down)The main gripe is how often you have to change the hoses.

reply by MEP1 over 2 years ago

We run a Vector, and if you get the right hoses they last a couple of years. Don't use Parker or GoodYear. I replaced the long overhead hoses with stainless steel pipe and a few short hoses for the bendy parts, so now instead of an all day job and $400 worth of hose it's a 5 minute, $50 repair.

Thanks, I know the handful we take care of use good year.

reply by Josycar over 2 years ago

I thought maybe the newer version Vectors comes with higher or more powerful pressure pumps.

Again thank you guys for the valuable input and I will keep searching.

A used LW 4000 for $8k? I'd be looking hard at that!

You've gotta get what a distributor can set up and keep running!

Good luck.

I know of someone who was buying used Lasers that were removed from a "big oil" c-store chain for $5,000 each, then reselling them for five times that.

Josycar, unless you are mechanically inclined the availability of local service will be very important. I would probably rule out any mfg whose service rep is more than an hour away.

I use water wizards and feel they have the potential to put out the best car of any touch free. But they have more moving parts than most and that usually means more maintenance. Coleman now charges for phone tech support for unitsz out of warranty, the only mfg. I know of that does that. IMO, that's a huge strike.

Thanks Greg...

That’s good to know because we are located in the Caribbean and this is pretty far away to get any mfg around. That's why my first choice is for a Vector, but I know we can get a better touch free wash from a Water Wizard.

The input I got from most carwash operators is that the Vector would not need that much maintenance comparing with other touch free wash systems.

Hope I will find a good maintained Vector for sale one these days.

Since this got brought back to the top, I will update my earlier post and say that I understand Coleman quit charging for tech support for owners.
