Mark VII Problem
I have an older Mark VII IBA the one with 4 spin wands. The top heavy side wand motor seemed like it was crapping out. It was intermitently working and my Mark VII service guy said "Only thing it can be is the motor is going bad" so new motor comes in and I replace it... still acting the same way. I opened up the panel and noticed that the breaker for that motor had kicked off but when i push in the contact switch to activate it it still starts up it will start slow and seems to gain speed WHILE the breaker is off when i put the breaker back to on and try to activate the wands again it automatically kicks back off and behaves the same. Any suggestions? I've already looked at the power wire for shorts and don't see any in spots where it could happen and if it was a short wouldn't there have to be 2 power wires shorted in order for it to get the power? I've already tried changing the breakers around and eliminated the possibility of the breaker shorting when switched it was still the same motor acting up. Let me know

If it's three phase, make sure all the legs on the contacter have the same voltage on the input side as well as the output side while engaged.
So just wanted to update this... you'd think after 7 years that by now I should have known better...how ever the big problem was....I hooked up the motor wires wrong. My "theory" is that when the old motor died, during a wash the water pressure was strong enough to make it gain some momentum giving the appearance of intermittent operation. When I put the new motor in I had the right wire/color combinations in my head but for some reason my hands did different as the minute my service guy opened the panel on the motor I said "those are hooked up wrong" I put the ground for the motor to a power wire and one of the power wires for the motor to the ground wire. Once they were switched to the wires they were suppose to connect with everything worked perfectly. But the having the service person come wasn't a total waste, the teller now takes the new 5 dollar bills. I should have known to double check my wiring but I was so sure that I had done it right that I said "No, must be something else"....oh well
