Shop menu for Lube?

I heard that you can better upsell and look more professional if you have some sort of shop menu that you show to customer as you greet them versus going empty handed. Is that true?

If so, what does a shop menu look like?

Thank you.

Where did you hear that information?

Why would you need a menu?? You only do services when the mileage is due on the car. You simply tell them there tranny is due at 50k, your fuel injection is due at 30k and so on. And tell them a price. The lube bussiness is different than a car wash

I heard from Castrol sales folks. We are thinking aboug rebranding from Havoline to Castrol and during their presentation they said that Castrol has a web site that allows the operators to make custom shop menu to present to customers.

They said that lube shops with such shop menu have higher upsells than the ones without.

Again, that's based on them telling me, but I wasn't sure.

I have always printed the mileage recommendations from my software and written a price on anything that was due or coming up for service.
A shop menu may have a better aesthetic appeal but I have always had best results showing customers what was needed.
I would also watch your contract very closely when re branding. I would stay away from anything requiring you to purchase a predetermined amount or percentage of Castrol products since it is one of the highest priced oils.
