What advantages/disadvantages have any of you found with having the "Free Vacs" before the wash? Some sites seem to lay out better to vacuum first.

I do not have a wash that is set up this way, but Sonny's has laid a site or two out for me with vacuums first. So I asked Bob Fox what his thoughts were. This was his response...

Positives:
1. Don't stop to nitpick wash because they exit wash straight to the street.
2. Can come back another time if all vacs are full before washing.

Negatives:
1.Don't have to buy wash to use vacs

I would be interested to hear from people that have it set up this way.

I would prefer vac first because they would detail less.
The customers would prefer vac after so they can detail more.
I have two site with vacs open to the public and one with it closed. I strongly recommend closing the free vacs from the public, unless you have a lube center and/or gasoline sales.

If I recall having vacs first increased income by 40 cents per car from what some have told me. On the other hand how much of that 40 cents gets eaten up by the freeloaders using your vacs? That is the question I ponder about. So to be safe I would have to agree with PanamaJim.

One thing that worries me about "exit straight to the street" format is silicone buildup caused by tire shine machines. That stuff is slippery!

Greg, Dad has a tine shine product that doesn't use silicon and its half the cost.

reply by gadsen64 over 4 years ago

Speedy,

Can you get your dad to tell us about the no silicon tire shine. We have tried it in the past, but it did not shine as well.

Thanks.

OK but how does it compare to the shine put on the tires by the silicon prodcuts and how long does it stay looking good compared to the silicon?

Just put it on line today...time will tell. Looks good so far, not as shiny as pad perfect, you can see some gleem across the parking lot, very even application, no streaks. Hope my driveway will not be as black and my reclaim clearer.

Email me and I can get you 5 gallons, at no cost, for you to test. My retail pricing is $8/gallon and $7/gallon bulk. (that offer is good to everyone, I'm a distributor)

Can you get that dressing in 55gal.?

reply by PanamaJim over 4 years ago

I'm only going to ship 4-55's for $7.50 gallon ($1,650 + freight), prepaid by cc. I don't want to mess around with small orders or receivables.

So far it appears not a shiny as pad perfect but better absorbed and spread. Keeps the tires dark for a couple of days and no slinging on rocker panels. You can tell it's been done after the wash and two days later. It may still not be shiny enough for some operators or customers(?).

You can buy single drums direct if you like for $8.70/gallon or $479/drum.
