'05 Newer Ford Explorer

has anyone else had a customer with one of these claim the car wash cracked the panel underneath the rear wipe? i've had 2 in the past 6 months and have seen a few in parking lots as well. it cracks all the way down on the passenger side of the ford logo

The new model Explorer does not have this problem, but the model you are talking about has a manufacturing defect. It appears that the adhesive holding the plastic to the body is the problem. We has a piece come off one of these vehicles and all of the adhesive was on the car and none was on the broken piece.

Yes we had one blow off in the dryer area. The piece did not break thankfully. The adhesive was still on the tailgate also. She bought it used a month ago and I told her to take it back to the dealer to put it on. How many years did FORD do this on the Explorer. I had never seen one like it before?

i am not sure of how many years they did that design but its a problem

Haven't heard of this problem on 2005 explorers but it most definitely is a problem on 01-02 explorers. They also have a major problems with the rear window blowing out on the hatchbacks. Do a search online, you will find all the ammo you need to deny any claim.
