How big is yours?

Ok, did that topic grab your attention?

Most of the time we talk about the size of an operation by the length of the conveyor. Maybe we should refer to facilities (like we do vehicles), sizing them by the total horsepower they've got.
That # certainly reflects investment, power consumption, maintenance costs and ability to wash cars, as well as, number of conveyor feet, and perhaps a better reflection. Because now, we are able to pack more equipment in shorter distances.

Ie: My conveyors are 122hp, 172hp, 187 hp. That's every motor on site except HVAC.

Forget how long yours is...how many horses do you have? :)

Ron, you the man! Must be blowers?
What's your cost per car for electricity?

reply by -M2 over 5 years ago

Wow maybe I am doing this wrong...

I came up with 390hp. That is the total horse power of all the equipment including reclaim pumps and vacuum producers. I am putting in 10 15hp blowers though.

We are at .23 per car and pay .11 per kw
Our dryer is 165.
Vacs are not included in this #.

reply by PanamaJim over 5 years ago

Awesome Ron..I would include vacs.

Jimmy, at this point..I'd say anybody over 250hp is not a weenie, but would fall in the "muscle wash" group.
