Black Magic Tire Shine
Is anyone using Black Magic on the Simoniz tire shiner? What kind of results are you having? We switched the other day over to the Black Magic and their pads. Not doing so well. We used our Simoniz which worked good but had some minor problems. The only reason I went to Black Magic is because my Blue Coral distributor carries it. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Jeff

I was told..... by a blue coral rep themselves that SIMONIZ has the highest amount of silicone in there tire dressing (pad perfect) of any on-line product. That was quite a statement for him to make.
I gotta be a little careful here because I'm getting trashed on this subject.
In my opinion, just because a product has the most silicone doesn't make it the best or create the best shine. Depending on the make up of the product to much silicone can cause "sling back" along the lower rocker panels of a vehicle. In additon, silicone is an ingreidant that causes the area around the applicator to become very slippery as well as causing the exit area to become slippery as well.

We switched to Black Magic a year ago and have had outstanding results. It appears to keep the tire looking glossy not just when applied but even a few days later. It is a little less money than Simonize but performance is the main difference.
Keep in mind though that we do not offer it as an extra service. Rather we include it with our one and only wash package "the Works", which except for an available a la cart application of Rain-X is the only wash we offer. This serves to keep the pads moist and oprimed all the time and helps prolong their life.
Lastly, Blue Coral allows you to order a drum or two at a time and give you "free" pads on the order of your 4th drum. To get the same pads from Simonize you have to take delviery on all 4 drums tying up capital and space which is often atr a premium in the equipment room of many car washes.
Kudos to Black Magic

Bill,
Are you applying through the Sonny's Simoniz tire shine? We first tried putting it on when we first opened with the original pads and nozzles. Did not work flushed the lines and put the Simoniz on and it worked. Last week we replaced the nozzles and pads that Blue Coral provided us. Primed the lines even soaked the pads with the chemical with our hands still does not work. ANy help would please let me know. Thanks, Jeff
Unlike Bill, I never had to buy more than 1 drum of PRISM at a time (or PAD PERFECT). And every time I needed pads, irregaurdless if it was are 2,3 or 4 sets of pads I got them at no cost.
When I do replace the pads, I turn on the water flush & check all the nozzels. I remove and clean the ones that are clogged and replace them. I don't replace the pads until the manifold system is correcly working. PAD PERFECT uses 30% less chemical than PRISM. The nozzels are removed and plugged in a certian pattern for the optimal application of the chemical. Presently I'm running prism to see what the results are at a less expensive cost. I think that the pad perfect works better.
Jeff:
Gee, I wish I could tell you we did something differently, but we didn't. The viscosity appeared similar and we have had no problem in using it. In fcat the pads that we got from Blue Coral were much easier to get on (they were the "H" style pads instead of "C style we'd been using) and still no problem. I'm at a loss to explain your problem.
Bill
