Rock chip looking damage from wash?

Has anyone ever seen a car wash do damage to a front grill, hood, and windshield that looks like a car drove behind a truck with a bunch of loose stone flying out at high speeds. The damage looks heavy on the front and then tampers off back to the windshield. Tiny chips out of the paint and glass.

I'm assuming you have a customer claiming your wash did said damage to their car. Tell them to have their insurance company contact yours; they'll deny the claim in a second. You're dealing with someone who is either completely ignorant or is trying to get a free paint job at your expense.

I agree with MEP1. And if the tunnel did such serious amounts of damage due to perhaps wraps somehow getting fused in with bunch of tiny rocks, you would see it on every car going through the tunnel and not just that car.

I hate those customers. You loose either way and there is nothing you can do about it other than to try not to think about it. And at the end of the day, you look bad and makes you feel bad. Sucks!

What type of equipment do you have? Top Brush or no. If there was something stuck in a top brush this could happen but it would leave scratches evenly spaced down the length of the car from the hood to the trunk. You did not mention the trunk. (Or perhaps it was a van or SUV = No trunk)

If you don't have a top brush - Only mitter curtains the scratch would be pretty much continuous down the length of the car.

As others have said lack of any issues with preceeding or following cars make it extremely unlikely that this was caused by your equipment and likely concealed by grime until clean.

I had a customer last year try to say my touchless automatic threw a rock into her windsheild. The funny part is I watched the car the entire time it was on my premesis on my security camera. Never once did the girl look at her windsheild while getting vending products nor vacuuming her car out after using the auto. It was a ploy to get me to pay for her broken windsheild. I told her to go pound sand!!!

What do your car wash entry cameras show? Are the "chips" aligned, or are the random. Aligned... they could be yours, random... from the gravel truck they were following, or gravel road they were driving on.
