High sides or standard side washers

Me and my boss have talked about adding a set of side washers to our last mitter to aid with buffing. So I thought I'd ask around here. What we see alot on other car washes in our area are the of the 35 inch brushes (a little taller than a rocker but shorted than a high).

One thing we also see alot with Sonny's tunnels is the 50 inch brushes. We don't want to go full 63". All we need is a side washer that can wash and buff the sides of all vehical surfaces that mitters usually miss. We perfer the bottom driven brushes because all our other brushes are like this.

But like what cloth should be used? Angled or completely vertical?

Any pictures? I'm a visual person so pictures will help greatly.

I'll see if I can get photos. I have an old set of AVW "Van High" washers. Luv 'em . wish all my places had them. These are after 3 mitters, and 2 sets of wraps, and 2 sets of lower details. They rotate opposite of wraps so catch any issue the wraps may have missed. Replace bottom hub with filament to hit the wheels better.

I can put bottom mount lower details under the mitters but there has to be more room for these. Before a mittter is optimal. After must be far enough away so mitter cloth doesn't get hung up in these. I would have to check but i think some of my mitter cloth is 7ft. long so this means an empty 7 feet between last mitter rack and outside diameter of side wheel.

Thats the reason We like bottom motor driven. Even behind a mitter especially Sonny's the mitter has a wide swing top driven brushes are even more prone to tangling with the mitters from the 28" to the 63".

At our car wash McKinney location we don't use top driven brushes anymore because of the risk of tangling. Our 28 inch bottom drive washers are mounted behind the 2nd mitter and the mitter cloth does reach the rockers.

The mitters don't get all of the fine details in polishing with the triple foam which is why we want a taller side brush for windows that are set in a few inches. Those corners the mitters miss.

Also do you have AVW's high sides or contour washers? What materials do they use? Like Neoglide, cloth, foam, microfiber?

I have an old pair of Van High Sides. Only one motor each. Do not see any real advantage to the 2 motor contour units. Recently changed from all cloth to filament on the bottom 24" high hub to get more effective wheel cleaning. Luv it.
