Web site coupons

We are in the process of getting a web site going and were curious if anyone here uses thier site for discounting or coupons. We are thinking of having customers register thier e-mail address to have coupons sent to them as reminders. It would be quite a bit cheaper than other forms of advertising. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks, Derek

Personally, I despise email. The worst part of the day is logging on in the morning and having to delete all the junk. Also, emails are purely a sell. That means when you send someone an email, you are pushing your services on them. This may work for a while, but after a while they will tire of the "sell". Who wouldn't?

We have had great success with Facebook. It's in front of our "fans" all during the day (btw...FB is now the most visited site on the internet), but at the same time, it's not "in your face". We give a free wash to all who fan us on Facebook. We don't use FB as a hard sell, but more as a way to build brand identity. We offer specials from time to time, but that tends to turn people off. It's a great branding tool that at the same time encourages people to wash more often at your location. Best part is that it's free, and most importantly you don't have to collect customers' data. Actually FB captures their data for you when they fan you eg. demographics, age group, gender, etc.

You can check out our FB page. Just search CarbuX to see some of the things we have done. It's as simple as simple can be. Also check out Mikes Express , Metro Express, and Snappy Express.
