This is for ICS
1. Set up a PLU for a free wash, which can be a package containing the original wash, say PLU 4 for your top wash, plus a PLU for the discount called 24 hr Rewash, (Standard, Discount). This will help you track the usage. The other way is to set up a $0 wash (Standard, Base) called 24 hr Rewash. If you do the $0 wash option, you'll need to make sure that this PLU is set up as a wash.
2. If you want, you can make the rewash contingent upon them touching an extra service button on the screen. To do this, you will need to add this as an extra service under the Profile menu.
3. Under Autosentry, Frequency Promotion, locate the service that you want the rewash attached to i.e Your top wash or if you choose the extra service option in 2 (above) the extra service PLU. In the space provided, add the number for the Promotion PLU.
4. Set the time period that the rewash is valid under Expires.
5. Click the box to make the Frequency promotion active.
A few notes: I would go with the option in 2 so that the customers have to touch a button on the screen to get the rewash. If you print the code automatically on every receipt and someone forgets to take their receipt, then the person behind them could use the code for a free wash. By making them press the extra service button, they are saying that they want the rewash. Just be aware that once people catch on, they will use the free wash for their second car...it's human nature. Instead, I would offer a discounted rewash that is good for seven-10 days or so. Eg. Offer $4 off your top wash good for 14 days.
We have not had good success with the Frequency promotion. We have been much more successful by giving customers a Club Card that has a mag stripe. We make the cards active M-F 8-10am and 6-8pm. The cards cost us $0.13 apiece when we purchased 10K at a time and customers love to have something in their hand that they can put in their wallet. With the card we give $2 off our top wash and $1 off the wash below that. This requires setting up a club. You can then even send out notices on FB and Twitter for specials that give people a BOGO when they use their card, eg on a rain day. The cards give a lot of flexibility.
