The above basic items are necessary in self serves, since it has already been established that customers use these services. Anything else must be evaluated separately, investment Vs anticipated rate of return.

Self serve car washes are large vending machines. Anything that sells time is worth considering. Some self serve items seem appealing, but only a small portion of your customers will use it. What you provide must be of high quality to the customer. Alot of self serves have attractive premises, nice signs, good locations and poor ass soap, wax and foam. I chuckle to myself when I try other self serves and find this - thinking if the operator only knew or had some inkling probably wondering where his business has gone, or what is he doing wrong ? It's like spending alot of money to advertise good food only to present the customer with below average food. The customers returns less often and worse yet tells others how "below average" the food was.
You have to "wow" customers today if you want them to help you gain "more customers". Average is what the poor operators provide today in service and quality. Put yourself in the shoes of Mr. Customer, what you look for, what
would bring your back and what would the wash have to provide in order for you to brag about your experience. Too often, new operators learn too late that they have to get their hands dirty, spend a lot of time of site and learn how to provide quality and good service on a consistent basis.

Crown is so correct. You have to titrate your chemicals or it won't cash flow. I have seen new car washes built and go a year before their on the block because their products don't work
