I am tired of spending so much to have my tanks pumped (I think they are 750 gal tanks). What is the best inexpensive way?

Try a Handi-Clam and a bucket.

You could try a 'spoon' shovel and a bucket. They come in different lengths and work fairly well, better than a regular spade or flat shovel. You can find them at construction supply vendors. They are NOT cheap ~ $175-$250.

In between using our pit cleaning machine, this is the most efficient cost effective way.

It's hard work, but unless you buy a pit cleaning machine as we did, you are stuck paying someone else, or doing in manually

After watching the guy here that uses a septic system pump truck, I am convinced that it would not be that difficult to make a system for towing behind a pick up truck out of a tank on a trailer and a common mud pump ??? If I was the owner of a large car wash and ha lots of mud I would see about building one for myself. Of cource you ca always purchase a factory unit but they are mighty pricey.

Allen, I agree pumping would be easy, but what would you do with the dirt. It has to go to a land fill, and in most cases a special one that will take car wash wet residue.

There are tests that need to be done, and it requires special permitting to take it into a landfill, even to haul it on a public road.

Recently I had the fun occassion to take some limbs and stuff to the Wichita Waste Site. Such a pretty place.Run by a lage private concern for the City. Anyway there was a sign at the entrance that specifically said, Car wash mud allowed. So I beleive that the wast from our pits is NOT considered hazardous but maybe this is a local call. Find out. Follow the guy that you pay to do it :) I really thnk a farmer some where would strike a deal with ya.
Persoanllly, I spread my small amounts on the vacant FENCED lot behind the wash and let it dry and then the weeds grow thru it and I mow it :) Works for me and I got lots of room for many years at this rate .

You can do what I did and put 2x2 full length drains in , with the exit pipe having a built in trap so when the mud builds up you have to clean the drain out with a shovel, easy access, and no mud in my tanks and no pumping
