Whose Talking
Another idea ?? need opinions
6 bay ss car wash. No debt, location has gone from easy access four lane to terible access 6 lane limited acess highway. We are always looking for some way to draw people. Place is 10 years old, clean clean but we can not aford to install new signage and stuff like that. We are presently at 6 quarters for 3.5 minutes, this is the standard in Wichita, we are all the same. Except for some $1.00 places old and rundown.
Dont want to go there :(
How about raising our time to 4 minutes and keeping the cost the same, 6 QUARTERS FOR FOUR MINUTES. Signage to say,,more time same cost ????
Let me know what you think. Remember we are trying to increase customer base and we have very low overhead. Of cource we dont make much money iether :)

There is no substitute for a good location.
Once a property has lost accessibility to traffic, it may be perceived as being less convenient by a relatively large number of motorists.
In this case, it is often necessary to focus on ways to make the property more appealing from a physical standpoint rather than economical.
Quite frankly, new signage and stuff like that may be exactly what is needed to increase the site's range.
By range, I am referring to the distance that motorists are willing drive to go to a market.
Experience has shown that highway billboard signs, bus stop banners and brightly lit yard signs with "CAR WASH" in big bold letters can be quite effective in creating attention and drawing in customers.
Low price can be an effective short-term strategy but it is too easy for the competition to match and counter the advantage.
thanks Robert for the info, I feel that signage is just to expensive at the moment. As I mentioned since we are debt free we can experiment but I feel that if we Increase the time a bit and do some small signage on site that maybe the word will get around slowly but surrely ???? As for the compettition matching our time and price, Great it would hurt them more than me But I dont want to grow at their expence.
There has to be something financialy feasable we can do to increase patronage ????
If you have stiff competition and you want to grow, it has to be at someone else's expense. Best get over that now.
There are other ways to get attention besides signage. Mailers are affordable and effective, especially if they include something for free. I know someone who faced a similar challenge, except that the traffic on the 4-lane highway the wash is on was diverted to an 8-lane toll road. He went to a "double time" system in the SS bays and increased his business fivefold in a few months. He put a banner on the mansard and spent a lot of time educating the customers on how it worked to make it known, and word-of-mouth did the rest.
