Whose Talking
bill changer
I am new the business and purchased an existing 3 bay ss, 1 bay auto. No change machine at all. Which one is the best value, and most reliable?

I can't believe that someone would build a car wash and not put in a Bill changer. I'd go with a Hamilton ER-60 with a Mars validator. Do you have any vending machines?
They're not cheap, but if you're in the for the long haul a good changer is the heart of the business. Hamilton with MEI acceptors is my pick. I like a dual changers, it gives you the redundancy needed so that if a bill jams in one side you're still in business. Hamilton DRS was my favorite model. Eaglecarwash can get you a good price on one. If you're on a real budget, Standard makes a decent economy series. Those are the only ones I would consider.
ditto on the dual machine. We have ONE good one but some jerk will do somthing to it and then your out of business. If I was ever to build a new car wash ( and I am not ) hehe I would have tow stand alone machines identical so I could learn them and care for them myself. Also have parts in stock.
Like said before. The change machine is the heart of your business. Also keep credit cards in mind if you purchase new machines it might be time to make that automatic CC acceptable. Just make sure that anyting you purchase wont be obsoliete if you add CC acceptors to the business later. Learn your market, take it slow and have fun.
The one thing I have learned is its easier to make money by NOT paying for service but doing it myself. It is really easy to watch your hard earned cash drive away in a repairmans van. Good luck
yep, a car wash with no change machine, the building has a studio apartment upstairs, and she has always been available for change. No vending machines either, she just had a little display case with some fresheners in it. (in her pump room) i am planning on adding cc capability in each wash bay
I have 11 Hamilton change machines...ALL with Mars validators. Do NOT use ANY Hamilton validators EVER!!! No to the HV II HV 7 HVX and the new XE. Everything else in the machine is easy to fix and mostly trouble free. Good strong durable cabinet. If you do go with the Hamilton macine, get the swinging cup guard that bolts / welds to the inside of the coin cup. Also, recess the machine in the wall at least 1/2 to 1 inch.
Good Luck
