Tulsa Car Wash Troubles

Hi

Everyone a quick note to say that things here in Tulsa have not been good lately. First there was the never ending rain. Now the are doing major construction on our street and leaving big pieces of equipment on our front lawn. Then the vandalism has been out of control cutting hoses, breaking guns, bending foam brush handles galore. The someone came one night and first tried to pry the change machine out of the wall. It is bolted right into the concrete so the just ben the crap out of the front plate. I was actually able to fix that. Lastly the took all the boxes of our vacuums pried the hell out of them and took have of the sensortron coin acceptors the ones the left are messed up. I have been fixing then but some of the stainless doors were taken too. This brings me to my question I have one vac that seems to have a short if you bang on it goes on for different times or open the door it turns on. Have been looking for shorts in wiring but have not hit it yet. Any ideas I would as always appreciate your help. I have started talking about selling it but with the market the way it is I will probably have to take a loss. Oh sometimes life is so fun!! lol

Thanks
Bill

If that vacuum has a mechanical coin switch, the wires may be connected wrong on it. There's usually a CO, NO and NC, and they should be on CO and NO. Using CO and NC means the switch is closed all the time, and banging on it breaks the circuit giving a coin pulse.

Sorry to hear of your problems, Bill. Many in the industry are having a tough time right now. I have run some self serves in some pretty rough neighborhoods. But in those neighborhoods, the #1 cause of damage to bay equipment was malfunctioning equipment. If I had to fix a bent wand the first thing I did when I fixed it was checked coin acceptance and all functions. The only other likely cause was kids out of school causing trouble.
