I see Ryko has come out with a new Surface Protectant called "Rain Shield" I am currently considering it but I wanted to hear from other operators first.

We have a self serve and IBA and are building an Express Exterior. I just met with the Ecolab Rain X distributor yesterday. We are going to put it at our self serve IBA site and are planning to use it on our express. Along with Blue Corral products. Around here Rain X is the big thing. An owner that I talked to today said that the Rain X sells itself. He has three sites with Rain X and really likes it. Good luck! Jeff

I have to agree with autocare...Rain-X sells itself. We started out with Simonize Double Bond and switched to Rain-X. Our ticket average increased around .25 cents per car. The name sells itself. I would recommend looking into it. I know it probably costs more to get into, but you will make it up.

I have the Rain X and I love it. Yes, it's expensive, but the name has customer appeal and it really works!

Most of my IBA sales are for the top 2 washes, which include rain x.

what does everybody think of Ryko's new Surface Protectant called "Rain Shield" has any of you tried it yet? it's cheaper in cost then Rain X and I hear and it does a better job.

I have not tried it. To be honest, it doesn't tempt me to try it because it is cheaper. Double Bond was a little cheaper for me, but it didn't sell nearly as much. "Rain Shield" doesn't have the name like Rain-X does. I am willing to pay a little more per car to use Rain-X because I know I am going to sell a lot more of it. Since I added Rain-X to our top wash, it has become our second best selling wash.

"Rain Sheild" could do a better job, but I guess my argument is for the name. People had no clue what Double Bond was, but when we added Rain-X, the majority of people recognized the name and purchased the product. If you end up going with "Rain Sheild" you will probably end up telling your customers "Rain Sheild" is similar to Rain-X, so they will understand what it does.
