America’s Got Talent winner is former carwash worker
LAS VEGAS — Laudau Eugene Murphy Jr., the winner of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” was working at a carwash prior to his stint on the hit TV show, US Magazine reported.
The 36-year-old, who wowed judges with his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” was working at a carwash in West Virginia before he decided to audition for the show.
Now, with a $1 million check in his pocket, Murphy said he is grateful for all that’s come his way. “God has been so amazing guiding my footsteps and I just want to continue to walk my faith, to keep my feet humbly, solidly planted to the ground.”

He doesn't get a $million up front, it's $25k a year or $300k lump sum. I don't think he'll need to wash any more BFGoodrichs.
Unfortunately, he'll probably be broke in a year, back at the car wash washing cars.
