Another bird of prey encounter

I was hiking with a friend yesterday. We were out on snowshoes near a reservoir, enjoying a blustery but clear February day, when I spotted a large bird taking off ahead of us.
It was so big that I initially thought it was a Great Blue Herron. Turned out to be an adult Bald Eagle! It was awesome to watch, as it circled around overhead. We could clearly make out its white head and tail. I thought it might stay nearby, but once it got a good look at us it moved on, away from view. It must've been fishing, because we noticed an open area of water nearby, while the rest of the surrounding water was frozen over.
What a great hike that was!
