Sunk Link Belt

I have a stormwater pond behind my main site. The city put a newbie on a brand new $300k excavator to clean it out. I watched the (w)hole event. After about an hour of digging, he drowned the engine and the real trouble started.
Two bulldozers could not pull in out with it's engine dead. They finally added another, larger Link Belt using its bucket pulling on the stuck equipment's bucket. They got it out of the water, on the bank and was able to replace it's filters and fire it's engine up.
This took 20 gov't employees over a day...it was quite a circus.
That driver is now in charge of a shovel.
